Civil engineering is field of engineering science, related to design, construction and maintenance of buildings, dams, bridges, tunnels, highways and other structures by the use of physical laws, mathematical equations and theories of mechanics. Civil engineers utilize the available resources to complete the project in the given time span keeping in view the time, expenditure, environmental issues and physical hazards of the projects Also known as mother of all engineering, it is the oldest, broadest, most simple and useful of all engineering sciences. It is traditionally broken into several sub disciplines including architectural engineering, environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, control engineering, structural engineering, earthquake engineering, transportation engineering, forensic engineering, municipal or urban engineering, water resources engineering, materials engineering, waste water engineering, offshore engineering, facade engineering , quantity surveying engineering, coastal engineering, irrigation engineering and construction engineering. The Department of Civil Engineering caters the need of minting out outstanding technocrats with its qualified and committed faculty besides using the well-equipped laboratories and Library facilities. Students are made experts both in technical aspects and in interpersonal skills to excel in the emerging world of technological inventions and innovations. More emphasis is given to deep understanding of fundamental concepts, development of creative ability to handle the challenges of Civil Engineering, and the analytical ability to solve problems. The teaching learning process involves classroom lecturers, laboratory demonstrations, use of models and charts, industrial visits and expert lectures from industry and academia. Besides this students gain practical experience from the field visits of industries, dams, irrigation structures and construction sites. Further students gain training through internships. Qualified and experienced faculty members specialized in various aspects of civil engineering like structural, environmental, water resources, surveying, construction engineering and so on, contribute to the overall development in the students. LABORATORIES AND FACILITIES Students have right access to the facilities available in the laboratories intended for their university examinations. All the laboratories are fully equipped with quality certified equipments. The computer center uses exclusive software packages such as AutoCAD, PRIMAVERA and so on. INDUSTRY - INSTITUTE - PARTNERSHIP Industry – Institution Tie-ups are under process, keeping in mind that they would result in students’ projects, visits and consultancy services besides the visits of experts from the industry being invited regularly to present lectures and interact with students and faculty.
