About The department Mechanical Engineering encompasses a wide range of activities that include the design, development, manufacture, management, and control of engineering systems, subsystems, and their components. Basically the manufacturing, power, aerospace, automotive, materials, and processing industries employ mechanical engineers for better deployment. Besides this to the recent and rapid expansion of technology, mechanical engineers contribute a lot to computer aided design and visualization; robotics; bioengineering; environmental engineering; solar, wind and ocean energy sources and space exploration. As such the breadth of the field finds no bounds and provides the graduates with many possibilities for a very much satisfying career. The Department of Mechanical Engineering is committed to excellence. Highly qualified and experienced faculty form in a team to mould students. They prepare the students with awareness on the latest trends in the areas like materials technology, alternate fuels, future based design and so on. Thus they lay a sound platform to the students in mechanics, kinetics, thermodynamics and energy. These, the students apply in the design and analysis of automobiles, heating and cooling systems, industrial, equipments, machinery and so on. Mechanical Engineering being a broad and flexible programme, it gives a better educational experience in design, mathematics modeling, computing and management. Basic study on fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, solid machines manufacturing energy systems, computer aided design (CAD) etc., prepares the students to come out as a full-fledged engineer. Students gain first-hand exposure to real-world engineering problems which, along with their classroom and laboratory work, makes them attractive candidates to employers on graduation. LABORATORIES AND FACILITIES: More than 15 laboratories form the basis for mechanical engineering department. They are: Thermal engineering, heat transfer dynamics of machines, metrology, CAD, CAM and so on. INDUSTRY - INSTITUTE - PARTNERSHIP The mechanical engineering department has its tie ups with industries and more tie-ups are yet to be made these tie-ups same the need for better corporate training programmes industrial visits, implant training and total industrial exposure and guest lecturing of experienced senior executives.
